Aren't Things Peachy...

We planted this little peach tree last September for Mike's birthday. It was a real squirt, but we loved it and watered it...and it lived!! It's looking' pretty good so far this spring!

Happy Birthday Ginger...

Four years ago, our little family moved into our tiny country cottage. We built a dinky, beautiful little home to minimize debt while I finished nursing school. After years of renting, we finally had a place to call ours. We had never really had more than fish for pets (because of renting), but told the girls that when we moved in they could get a puppy. Mike and I had a big, yard dog in mind. Maybe a lab or golden. Almost at the exact same time we were getting settled into our new home, my sweet friend called to see if we would be interested in taking their pup. They had just added her to their family and then found out they were expecting a brand new sparkly baby girl!! I told Mike about it. He frowned. A small, inside dog was not really on his agenda. Mine either if I'm honest. Although, as soon as the possibility was introduced, I began to wonder if it might not be so bad to have a little fuzzy friend hanging out with us...

We talked about it and decided that we really needed an outside pet. I didn't really want to compromise my brand new carpet. So, I told our friend that we would probably have to pass and hoped she was able to find a great home for the sweet puppy. A few weeks went by and I received another call. Ginger still needed a home. We talked about it again and felt like the Lord just may be sending us the pet we were looking for. So we loaded up the girls and went to meet our newest family member! She was a year old in April we were told and since we didn't have an exact birthdate for her, we made April 1st her official day!

That was four years ago. So, this morning I found this scene...

Autumn had made Ginger a birthday card and reasoned that she may like some crackers in her bowl for a little birthday breakfast treat! And later, I found her here soaking up some birthday sun...

And then, a birthday photo shoot. These are quite common around here. And it's just one of the reasons she is the perfect pet for the girls. She puts up with everything!! And she's very sweet about it! Although, I always think her face shows how shamed she feels haha...

So, happy 5th birthday Ginger! I'm thankful the Lord sent you to our family :)
